Rodion Voskresenskii

Languid Dreams

Rodion Voskresenskii, a contemporary artist born in 1994 in Taganrog, Russia, specializes in figurative art and portrait painting. His unique style blends romantic and modern art influences, creating deeply emotional narratives framed by both real and fictional elements within a sensual environment. After graduating from university in 2016, Rodion worked in Moscow as an artist, set director, and furniture designer before immigrating in 2022.

His visual arts expertise encompasses the use of natural materials like oil paints, pastels, tempera, wood, and linen, resulting in breathtaking oil paintings. Rodion’s distinctive art style is characterized by his ability to communicate his emotional experiences and capture a moment’s essence. His figurative paintings focus on the volume of human forms and employ color areas of varying sharpness, transparency, and brightness to convey complex emotions and experiences. The characters in his paintings are often depicted with languid bodies and calm faces, set against a backdrop filled with emotional indicators.

Conceptually, all of Rodion’s canvases share a common theme: capturing a moment of feeling in its pure, unaltered state. Throughout his artistic practice, he explores themes of mystical visions, grotesque dreams, trance, hallucinations, and border states.

Sensuality is a crucial element in Rodion’s contemporary art, with the intimate presence of images and the importance of the unseen being brought to the forefront. His artwork is a poignant exploration of the past and a longing for lost youth and homeland. Ultimately, Rodion’s art emphasizes the beauty of simplicity, embodying his belief that beauty is inherently linked to naturalness and simplicity
